I’ll be going live tomorrow evening with Friday Reads. Come chat with me and my book people about current reads, books, and other stuff….
I’ve been taking my time with reading these first 2 weeks and I started 2022 with Romance in Marseille by Claude Mckay. What a gem! This was my first Mckay novel and I can’t wait to pick up something else real soon. I can see why it’s a classic and should have been published back in the the day when it was written. Fear of a story being published about a love story that takes place in the underbelly of Marseille with blacks, Arabs, gays, and sex workers. Written in 130 pages McKay really does show mad skills with his storytelling and character development. A must read if you want to discover a different kind of book from the Harlem Renaissance period. So happy that my reading this year is once again starting with a bang. What was your first read of 2022?
